Is strategically design to prepare young adults to become socially, emotionally,  and personally independent of social services while connecting the young adults to life-long permanent connections and laying the foundation for the continuous pursuit of educational and career opportunities. CYS is committed to facilitating young adult’s transition into adulthood. CYS utilizes individualized and client centered approach to independent living. Upon enrollment each young adult is assessed to formulate a plan to his unique challenges, needs and goals. .  CYS believes in the therapeutic R.I.C.H. approach (Realizing I Create Happiness campaign ) in helping our young adults. 

 

Therapeutic Approach:  A multidisciplinary approach to independent living for young adults exhale great success. The utilization of therapy combined with educational, vocational training, life skills, development, case management, recreational service & positive life exposure and consistent real life application all in a supported positive  living  environment  provide young adults with a uniquely structured program while encouraging the young adult to excel and individuate into adulthood.

CYS  provide young adults with the development of the necessary life skills for long term success & independence. Chenault Youth services uses the Casey life skills model as a guide to develop individualized life skills training programs. Once the young adults develop healthy life skills they are able to have a successful transition into adulthood.

 

Using the information from Casey Life Skills assessment young adults are evaluated in their proficiency with the following skills listed below.

  • Financial Management

  • Healthy communication

  • Goal setting

  • Education

  • Healthy Relationships

  • Employment

  • Food management

  • Home management

  • Automotive Maintenance

  • FIRST AID/CPR

  • Meal planning

  • Resume building

  • Housing

  • Money management

  • Recreation/ Fitness

  • Relationships

  • Laundry

  • Cleaning

  • Self Care/Health 

  • Time Management

  • Personal appearance/hygiene-self care

  • Transportation

 

 

At CYS young adults will continue on their personal journey by exploring and pursuing their individualize educational and vocational needs & goals. Young adults work with the CYS staff who assist with tutoring ( if needed). While enrolled at CYS, young adults are able to complete their high school diploma, GED or attend college or vocational school. Young adults that would like to complete their high school education have several options available to them in the Atlanta area and online programs.

 

For young adults that have completed their educational goals or may not be interested in college or vocational training, CYS work with a network of professionals in the community for on the job placement and or internships.
